Zero wins national Safety Solution award
Tuesday 9 June 2015
When Austube Mills created the Goal Zero Codes of Practice campaign, we were focused on improving our internal practices and education for better safety outcomes for our people. Never did we think our campaign would be externally recognised by our peers in the Australian manufacturing industry.
The Goal Zero Codes of Practice campaign won the Safety Solution Award on 28th May at the national manufacturing Endeavour Awards in Melbourne.
Beating seven other companies with some outstanding safety innovations, the judges said we had the edge because our campaign focused on driving safety through consistent behaviour change education and training both on-site and at home.
“Austube Mills showed that it was prepared to go the extra mile to ensure employee safety, not just in the workplace but in all areas of their lives. Features such as the 12 month employee engagement strategy convinced the judges the company takes safety seriously.”
This is terrific, national recognition for our business for the work we do to uphold our Core Value of Safety. It’s pleasing to see that our Goal Zero philosophy is leading by example in our industry.

Austube Mills’ Risk Management Model was another finalist in the Safety Solution category. The model explores different ‘levels’ of competency and allows employees to empower workers with risk management decision-making, shifting the focus away from ‘the forms’. A range of revised Risk Management Tools were developed and made available to our people to ensure all aspects of risk assessment were covered across the entire business.
This award win is great encouragement that Austube Mills is on the path to achieving world-class safety. Even though we still have a way to go, it’s campaigns like this that make us unique and continue to get us closer to accomplishing our ultimate safety goals.
