Safety winnings donated to charity

Austube Mills’ Somerton site and Newcastle based Manager, Safety, Quality, Environment and Training Garry Meagher, donated their winnings from this year's Arrium Safety Excellence Awards to charity.

Garry Meagher donated his $1,000 from receiving the Geoff Plummer Arrium Safety Leader of the Year Award to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation(HBCF). The Somerton site donated its $1,000 from winning the Excellence Award for the Best Department/Site to the KIDS Foundation.

As the Somerton team works on maximising safety every day they made their donation to the KIDS Foundation because the Foundation has a similar approach towards safety for children. The KIDS Foundation works to reduce the number of preventable injuries to children and create a better life for those living with serious injury and burns.

The Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation is very close to Garry's heart as he and his loved ones have been touched by breast cancer. HBCF is a not-for-profit organisation established to provide information and support for people with breast cancer and their families.
